Safety is also a strong buyer motivation, especially for customers with children. The 2012 CR V features:
- Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure
- Vehicle Stability Assist™ (VSA®) with traction control to help manage the steering in case of inadvertent oversteering
- 4-wheel disc ABS, Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist
- Dual-stage, multiple-threshold front airbags, front-seat side airbags and side curtain airbags with rollover sensor
The 2012 CR V is expected to:
- Earn a 5-Star Overall Vehicle Score in the NHTSA New Car Assessment Program (NCAP).
- Achieve “Good” ratings (the highest possible) in frontal, side, roof and rear tests by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).
- Be a Top Safety Pick by the IIHS.
What to say:
- CR V offers best in class safety features, such as ACE™ body structure that helps spread out the forces of a frontal impact to help keep the driver and passengers as safe as possible.
- Speak to the multiple-threshold front airbags, along with where they are situated within the actual vehicle
- Tell your customer that all models feature front and rear stabilizer bars to reduce body roll during cornering. The diameter of the tubular front stabilizer bar measures 20 mm, and the solid rear stabilizer bar measures 19 mm. This means it is solid.
- Ever worry about hill starts? New to the CR-V is Hill Start Assist, which helps to prevent the vehicle from rolling backwards when the driver switches from the brake pedal to the accelerator pedal while the vehicle is stopped on a hill.
- EPS responds instantly to steering input and automatically changes the amount of power assist appropriate to the vehicle’s speed. Three examples of how Motion-Adaptive Electric Power Steering (EPS) functions in conjunction with VSA are:
- Stabilizes Braking – Corrects the driver’s steering input to reduce vehicle instability when the driver is braking hard on road surfaces with different friction coefficients (such as pavement that is only partially covered with dirt or snow)
- Mitigates Understeer – Corrects the steering inputs to mitigate understeer and help the driver trace the curve
- Mitigates Oversteer – Corrects the steering inputs to mitigate oversteer and help the driver trace the curve
What to show:
Be sure to show other safety technology like those integrated with the i-MID or NAVI screens and how they work. For example:- Multi-angle rearview camera: your customer uses it when reversing, and it gives multiple perspectives from behind the vehicle are shown on the i-MID or NAVI screen. It gives a sense of safety knowing that you see all objects behind you when reversing.
